The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad, or BNSF as it is commonly referred to, is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, and is second only to the Union Pacific Railroad in size amongst North American railroads. It was formed December 31, 1996 as the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway was merged into the Burlington Northern Railroad. On January 24, 2005, the railroad's name was officially changed to BNSF Railway. This design is the "old" BNSF logo, used up till Jan 24, 2005, when the replacement logo - which sucks - was introduced.
