First founded in 1932, Coleco was a visionary company and early pioneer in the home electronic entertainment industry. They grew to become one of the foremost computer entertainment companies in the timespace of the 1980's. The Coleco Telstar (1975) was followed up by the ColecoVision (1982), synonymous with home entertainment and competing with other legendary names like Atari and Magnavox. Following the home video console downturn that destroyed the ColecoVision's market, they tried to capitalize on the new "home computer" wave with the Adam, but it flopped and greatly accelerated the company's fall from grace. Even the incredible popularity of their famous *ugh* Cabbage Patch Kid dolls was not enough to save the firm, and their assets were bought up by Hasbro in 1989. This name is a classic piece of gaming history, folks.
